Spring gardening uncovers interesting critters

I unwavering yesterday to tear asunder down and mow the lawn for the front and back compound. Thankfully in Texas, we indeed only have to mow for about 7 months of the year. I hadn’t mowed the lawn since November, so I musing it was time. The lawn was acquirement long at about 7″. Our trustworthy lawnmower started straight up and I was off to mow the back first. As we have a pretty big backyard, I knew it was going to take a while to get the job done. Our enclosure has several pecan trees in it so, I had to close up here and there and pick up fallen branches (not to cursory reference tennis balls used as dog toys, a out of one's recollection frisbee, a garden utensil or two, and some water shoes gone from one's mind after Slip ‘N Move smoothly fun). I had gotten about 3/4 of the enclosure done, when I realized that I needed to move some wire-guard boards. We had had one side of our protecting enclosure replaced at the end of summer and the installer had propped up some planks at my suit. The winter winds had inflated them down in the corner of the enclosure. As I was transporting some of the planks from one side of the enclosure to the other, I heard my son say: “Mom, I found a serpent.” Eeek! I have a of good health respect for snakes. I give them their extent and they don’t chew me. It is a mutual creature. I ran over to the other side of the yard lawful in time to see the serpent bury itself into our lawn. It was gone - Lawful LIKE THAT. We looked for a few minutes, but couldn’t find the small guy. I remember it being a bit of a brownish, ash-colored with no markings. I had never seen one before. I continued to mow the lawn on the far side of the compound after a short dispart. As I was maneuvering around the garden, I saw ANOTHER serpent. This guy was just analogous the first one, but longer. I closely turned off the lawn mower and looked down to the the diminutive guy disappear into our lawn again. Wow! They are go hungry little critters. I unwavering to take a typical homeschooling instant (”I don’t apprehend what it is, let’s go gaze it up on the computer!”). We...
